Travelodge is to open 22 hotels in the run up to the festive period and will be recruiting managers, receptionists, housekeepers, cleaners and bar staff.

All new recruits will undergo a training programme and the company has also launched a 12 week fast-track management programme, a graduate scheme to develop managers of the future and a foundation degree in hospitality, budget hotel and retail management in partnership with Westminster Kingsway College.

Chrissie Herbert, HRD at Travelodge, said: "We want to make hotels available to everyone and that means careers [employees] as well as customers. We create vacancies for staff every six working days due to our major hotel openings programme. In response to such significant growth we are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and committed individuals to join our team and develop a career at Travelodge."
