Working parents don't think taking a family holiday is worth the stress

Almost two-thirds of parents think going on holiday with the kids is more stressful than being at work.
Research from recruitment scoring website HireScores shows 65% of parents find a one-week holiday with the children more stressful than working full-time and almost half confess they do not look forward to family trips - but 60% are so scared of what they will face on their return to work that they consider not going away at all.
More than half (53%) do look forward to family trips, but 57% think that the backlog of work when they return to their desks will make them more stressed than before they went away.
Lisette Howlett, founder of HireScores, said: "A holiday is supposed to be a stress-free break from the pressures of work and yet so many people feel they need a holiday on their return.
"It is important to take a proper holiday so there may be some useful learning on how important it is to prepare to be away, including ensuring a quality handover of work [to colleagues]. This will reduce worries that can spoil the holiday."
