Gro Company sees positive results from offering staff health screening

1 comment on this article.The Gro Company is offering health screening at its head office to give its employees a sense of their overall health.
The firm, which manufactures baby products, is working with Screenetics to implement the service. The Gro Company is introducing the screening programme as part of its overall health and wellbeing strategy, designed to improve employee productivity and engagement.
The screenings, which last 45 minutes, test employees' cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes, body mass, blood pressure, bone mineral mass, nutrition and lifestyle.
Staff receive the results immediately, allowing time for discussion after the examination.
Rob Pascoe, managing director of the Gro Company, said: "We wanted to offer our staff a benefit that would give them an opportunity to take control of their own health and lifestyle. Since screening began, we have noticed our employees are taking an active interest in their health and comparing their results with colleagues.
"We are already starting to see positive action taken by members of staff with changes to diet and exercise."

Curiosity often drives one to question what it is that work should help us achieve, and the answer would inevitably incline towards, a state of happiness, a precondition for fostering performance, driving achievement on all fronts. Often talking to colleagues, friends, employees, from different sectors, small and large organisations reveal the existence of the taunting bogey-man at work, stress. Concern about work conditions, about delivering the same performance without having to disintegrate, talk about calories, about saving energy for the treadmill, all have a golden thread running through, implying the importance of what a healthy lifestyle means to us and our lives. Health being a priority, often takes the backseat and in that respect The Gro Company has been innovative in implementing this scheme, which interestingly identifies the crucial concern of the workforce, or of people wanting to feel good to feel happy about giving. In that sense, physical fitness, or concerns about health are directly linked to mental health and any measure taken towards helping employees manage their fitness, only wins their hearts and good work. Additionally, it paves way for healthy conversation about lifestyle changes, and acts as a positive influence in helping us learn to live, and work in "fit"ness.
