Hotel group aligns skills and training with business objectives

The Lancaster Landmark Hotel Group is set to improve its talent management, training, career succession and employee performance functions to bring them into line with business objectives.

 

The group is working with talent management solution provider SuccessFactors to implement an online, company-wide initiative linking development and training systems and making the learning and development process more transparent for management.

Previously the company, which operates hotels worldwide, used a paper-based performance management system tied to customer satisfaction but it was not suitable for all levels of staff and did not offer job vacancies and career progression across the group. Senior management also found it hard to use to measure talent.

The firm hopes the new system will allow it to be more strategic about managing skills and training.

Ciara Hassan, acting director of human resources, said: "Our existing performance review systems were generic and didn't focus enough on the individual. We wanted an effective way to show our employees that we were investing in their career development, while implementing a high-performance culture."

The scheme will be introduced to the group's 750 London-based employees in October.
