Jane Carwardine, HR director at the Identity and Passport Service, has revealed her plans to develop a single measure of engagement across the whole of the Civil Service.
Interviewed by Human Resources magazine and featured as the May 2008 cover story, Carwardine explained how engagement is currently measured differently across Whitehall, which prevents cross-departmental comparisons.
"My feeling is that Government needs a single measure where all employees are rated by the same scoring system. I believe this is a project that can work."
Carwardine was formerly HR director, engagement, at Coca-Cola and during her time there from 2004-2007, saw engagement scores rise by 20%.
The May issue of Human Resources is out on 2 May.
