The Energy Savings Trust (EST) is launching a £250,000 campaign to make companies more aware of the environmental impact their fleets have.

It wants to encourage businesses with fleets of 50 or fewer vehicles to consider boosting the numbers of environmentally-friendly cars they have. Advice on eco-driving, managing fuel and low carbon fuels will be available on the free helpline, 0845 602 1425.

As part of the two-month campaign, the EST has commissioned a report into organisations’ transport needs and habits, and how these impact on the environment. The results will be published in March. Another EST report found that companies with smaller fleets could save £45,000 a year by implementing green fleet policies.

“I would urge all companies to take advantage of this free service and save money as well as the environment,” says Nigel Underdown, head of transport advice at the EST. "Companies with smaller fleets will not necessarily have anyone focused on their fleet full time. The Energy Saving Trust is here to fill that expert role.”
