Dhesi (pictured) will head the recently formed talent centre of expertise and be responsible for driving forward the talent agenda he says is crucial to the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS)'s recovery plan.
Dhesi will focus on talent management, executive development (including the RBS Business School), employer brand marketing, executive sourcing and support, and supporting organisational culture change.
His appointment follows an extensive internal and external search for the right candidate. Dhesi joins RBS from Aviva, where he was the group talent director for five years. Prior to this, he spent 10 years in various HR roles across North and South America.
