A quarter of UK workers would not make a negligence claim if they experienced a serious injury at work as the result of faulty or unsuitable equipment, a survey has suggested.

According to the Health and Safety Executive there were 120,000 injuries reported in the work place last year.

The poll of 1,151 people was conducted by not-for-profit organisation the Assocation of Personal Injury Lawyers.

Association president Muiris Lyons said: "People are right to make a claim if they are injured through an employer’s negligence — it is an employer’s duty to keep employees safe in the work place.

"Employees should therefore feel empowered to stand up for their rights when it comes to cases of negligence at work."
