The chancellor of the Exchequer has announced a two-year pay freeze for public-sector staff earning more than 21,000 in salary.
George Osborne said staff earning less than this sum would enjoy an annual pay rise of £250 going forward. The Chancellor also suggested this would bring higher earners in the sector in line with overall fairness.
He said: The culture of excessive pay has to end.
