London Underground has built a mock Tube station as part of a new staff training initiative.

London Underground's newest station, which is calling West Ashfield, will be used to train front line staff.

West Ashfield is just like a real London Underground station and includes an entrance, a gateline with an authentic Oyster reader, a station platform, a public announcement system, a track and a Tube car and cab, and a service control room where staff can learn about the workings of a real underground station in a safe and controlled environment.

This simulated training suite was built by Paragon Creative, a company that recently completed work for Thorpe Park, Hampton Court Palace and the London Transport Museum.

A spokeswoman from Transport for London told HR magazine: "Well-trained staff are key to an efficient Tube system for our customers. Training at West Ashfield - a simulated Tube station and operational environment - means London Underground can teach employees in a safe and realistic environment."
