Automotive manufacturer R-TEK has moved from paper-based HR administration to computerised HR, payroll and time and attendance systems.
The company wanted to review the way it used technology to improve the availability of accurate management data.
Staff at the company, which produces interior parts for other manufacturers such as Nissan and Honda, work on a rolling shift basis, so accurate attendance systems are essential – especially since the recession has caused the firm to put some employees on temporary lay-off or reduced working hours.
The company is now moving to a demand scheduling scheme where staff have a set number of paid working hours allocated to them each week and can bank additional hours for when demand is low – hopefully guaranteeing them a set monthly salary.
HR manager Alan Culliford said: We saw the integrated package as a very prudent way of bringing our HR processes into the 21st century. All the key data would be at our fingertips, even employee documents are available with the click of a mouse.
The software has been provided by Carval.
