West London Mental Health NHS Trust has launched an online diversity training module to ensure assessment processes are more easily managed.
The organisation is working with e-learning provider Marshall ACM to collect Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) from staff and is using the online system to ensure staff are aware of diversity measures and know how to complete EIAs.
By law, all public-sector organisations need to risk assess policies and practices to check compliance with equality strands of race, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, belief and disability.
Margaret Fordjour, diversity lead for employment at West London Mental Health NHS Trust, said: "We are making sure employees are introduced to the system through a series of workshops where individuals have the opportunity to ask questions and get a hands-on feel for the system. We think the online database is very effective and provides a mechanism for monitoring and publishing assessments."
