Lawn treatment company GreenThumb is to recruit 1,000 new members of staff over the next three years to cope with an increase in demand.

The franchise operates 186 branches in the UK and provides treatments for over 35,000 lawns.

The company predicts 25% growth over the next two years and hopes to recruit 550 lawn operatives, 150 administration staff, 150 branch managers and 200 lawn estimators to provide quotes to customers.

David Collison, marketing manager at the firm, said: "Since the recession hit, our growth has accelerated dramatically. People are deciding to improve their properties rather than move. If they are not going away so much in the slump, they want to enjoy their gardens."
