Housing association staff pay rises drop by almost a third

The reward expectations for housing association staff has dropped by 30% in the past six months.

The median pay increase in 2009 for staff in this industry is now 2.5% - down from 3.5% in November 2008, according to a survey of 90 housing associations by accountancy firm Smith & Williamson.

Housing sector employees' expectations this year range from no pay increase to an expected rise of 5.5%.
