Tesco will not pay staff for absence caused by the adverse weather at the start of the month.
A spokeswoman from the retail giant said: "Staff who missed work due to the weather have been asked to make the time up and have been given a number of ways that they can do this."
The alternatives for staff include shift swaps, changing their day off, taking holiday, taking any owed time such as days in lieu, working unpaid overtime or taking unpaid absence.
Tesco's news comes a week after Transport for London announced it was not paying staff who were unable to go to work. Following union outcries Mayor Boris Johnson later changed this decision.
The TUC has recommended staff who were unable to attend work due to adverse weather should still be paid.
