Cardiff Council automates process for hiring agency staff to save money

Cardiff Council has automated its procurement process for hiring agency workers in the hope of saving 5% of its annual spend.

The council is working with Comensura to manage a technology platform for agency staff, which will monitor supplier agencies against cost, candidate calibre and responsiveness.



Previously the organisation made managers responsible for hiring agency workers, which worked out to be costly and inefficient. The council also believed this lacked transparency and consistency over pay for agency staff and hopes the updated arrangement will prove more effective and flexible.
