It is estimated today (7 January) will be the busiest day after Christmas for job hunting.
Research from law firm SAS Daniels shows 60% of those made redundant in late 2008 had resolved to wait until after the Christmas holidays to start the search for a job and online CV provider iProfile reports Wednesday is the busiest day of the week for candidates to submit their CV.
Rick Bacon, CEO of iProfile, said: "In 2008, 10 January was when we saw the largest volumes of CVs updated and sent to recruiters. In 2009, we expect to see an even bigger upsurge around this time."
He added: "January is always a hectic time in the recruitment market, as many people reflect on their career over the Christmas period, even making finding a job their new year's resolution and then start job-hunting in the first week back after work."
