Outplacement services help boost a companys reputation for existing members of staff according to a survey by coaching and outplacement provider Mason Finch.

From a poll of 100 senior HR directors in large and small companies Mason Finch found 89% of respondents thought it improved their image, with 81% also believing it improved the company's ability to retain other staff.

Mason Finch director Karin Parkinson said: "We wanted to see if there was any evidence of what we know is anecdotally true."

The study also found 70% of employees given outplacement services find a job straight away. "These findings prove outplacement is good for companies and is good for individuals," adds Parkinson. "In this climate HR must use every weapon in their armoury to keep people working."
