Wessex Water has reported a 33% take-up of its employee benefits scheme within a week of its launch.

The south west water and sewerage provider launched a voluntary benefits scheme to its 18,000 staff in association with Asperity Employee Benefits. It also plans to implement childcare vouchers in January 2009.

Employees can use an online portal, Wessex Water Reward Gateway, to access discounts and offers at over 1,500 retailers.

Jane Ginnever, HR adviser at Wessex Water, said: "In the short time since implementation, the Wessex Water Reward Gateway programme has already proved a success with our employees."

The organisation plans to roll out targeted communications to staff to further engage them with the scheme and increase take-up.
