Cable & Wireless plans to launch a talent management scheme aimed at improving management capability and employee performance.

The telecommunications firm will implement modules for managing goals and performance, succession planning, employee reviews and career development at the end of September.

Objectives for 5,000 employees across Europe, Asia and the US will be reviewed to ensure they fit group strategy. In the longer term, C&W will focus on staff training.

James Eastwood, director of HR and shared services at C&W, said: "Great service can only be delivered with great people. We want our employees to recognise their potential and get engaged in their development, training, career planning and aspirations."
