First UK Bus has signed a contract with trade union Unite to improve learning and development in the transport firm.
The agreement, signed at the Trade Union Learner Representatives Conference, sets out training standards for Unite members who work for First as well as the responsibilities of the firm itself and the role both parties should play in learning and development.
First employees will be able to access vocational and non-vocational courses at centres throughout the UK at times that suit them.
Dave Kaye, managing director of business operations and HR at First, said: "Signing this agreement is a historic moment. It reflects our commitment to the Government's Skills Pledge and Skills for Life Agenda, and, more significantly, our commitment to our workforce."
