New payroll card makes it easier for employers to pay staff without bank accounts

Ceridian and White Eagle have launched a new payroll programme to allow employers to pay staff who do not have a bank account.

The Evolution payroll card, issued as a Mastercard by Newcastle Building Society, allows employers to upload bonuses, rewards and wages onto the system in less than 24 hours. It is expected employers can save up to 75% in administration fees, by using this method instead of cheque processing.

It is expected the use of prepaid cards for this purpose will rise to 5% of the market by 2010.
