Tesco Personal Finance is to create 800 new jobs in Glasgow.

The firm has pledged to create the jobs in Glasgow's International Financial Services District (IFSD).

So far companies including Barclays, BNP Paribas, JP Morgan and Esure have already created 15,000 jobs in the area, since its creation in 2001.

Jim Watson, senior director, financial services at Scottish Enterprise, said: "This is wonderful news for Glasgow and shows how successfully the city can compete for blue chip inward investment, through a combination of quality skills and a great business environment.

"In the face of current global economic circumstances, Glasgow has continued to work very hard to attract new jobs and investment in the financial sector.

"Today's news from Tesco, together with Esure's recent announcement of a further 500 jobs in Glasgow's International Financial Services District, underlines the city has a lot to offer."
