Liz Bell HR director at B&Q, joins the company's board of directors.

Bell has been part of the leadership team at B&Q for four years since joining from retail group Rubicon where she was HR director of Principles. This latest promotion is in recognition of the work she has carried out at B&Q.

She has been responsible for the HR function for the past nine months, reporting to Martyn Phillips, retail operations director, who previously represented the HR agenda on the board.

This year has seen B&Q introduce an innovative £12-million all-store shop-floor employee bonus scheme and a £9-million store-manager share scheme. It has also invested £1 million in its training programmes to help more than 15,000 employees achieve a City & Guilds qualification this year.
