Gillian Hibberd becomes president of the Public Sector People Managers' Association (PPMA).
Hibberd takes over from Stephen Moir at the organisation that represents more than 900 HR professionals, while Dean Shoesmith becomes the new vice-president. In her role as corporate director for people and policy at Buckinghamshire County Council, Hibberd is responsible for HR, organisational development, policy and performance across the organisation and its 14,000 employees. She said: "I believe there has never been a more important time for the public sector to 'step up to the plate' and display the innovation and flexibility that we know it can deliver."
