Kevin Hogarth has been appointed global HR director at law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. He will be responsible for implementing the firm's HR strategy.
- What does your new role involve?
I will be responsible for leading the HR team, for the operational management of the global HR function and implementing HR strategy.
- What attracted you to the role?
The chance to join one of the world's leading international law firms. I have the opportunity to work in a truly global environment and to continue developing a leading HR team.
- What skills and experience do you bring?
For most of my career I have worked in environments where the quality of the people working in the business is critical. In those situations, HR is at the very heart of the business. I am also very business-focused and recognise that HR has to be aligned to the business strategy, and that the contribution it makes needs to be clear and measurable.
- What's the greatest challenge over the next 12 months?
I think there are three things; making sure the HR team continues to work on the projects that will deliver the greatest value; determining what needs to be consistent globally and what can be determined locally; and making sure that HR continues to build a reputation for first-class service.
- What do you do to unwind?
I spend as much time with my family as I can. I play a little golf but I am something of a beginner, and I try and run to keep fit.
