Employees are more likely to trust their immediate managers than the senior management team, according to BlessingWhites State of Engagement Survey 2008.
The research found that while 71% of staff trust middle managers, less than half (48%) felt the same way about their organisations senior management team.
To compound matters it is the trusted managers who are most likely to leave organisations first. The survey found 51% of middle managers planned to leave their role within the year.
It is not only rank-and file staff who distrust senior managers. BelssingWhite found that 29% of middle managers feel the same way about their senior management team.
