Most workers believe they embarked on wrong career

27 Mar 2008

More than half of all workers wish they had embarked on a different career path, according to research from Lifelong Learning UK.

The survey found that 71% of respondents had changed their career at least once, while 13% have changed their career at least four times.

More than half of those that have changed their career had to completely retrain, with boredom and a desire for change the biggest reasons for changing careers.

Those working in the banking, insurance, finance and travel and leisure sectors are the most unsettled, with 67% of them wishing they had followed a different career path. Medical and health workers are the most satisfied, with more than half of them saying they chose the correct career from the outset.
