HR is in need of a PR makeover

People are at the heart of HR. But, going by a report from Ceridian, HRis not at the heart of the 'people'. Ceridian surveyed 1,006 officeworkers and found that the human resources department would benefit froma public relations make-over

22% of people consider HR a menace that just gets things wrong, and 50%of respondents say the function makes no difference to their jobs.Younger employees were the most positive, with 19% stating they couldsee benefits from HR initiatives.

45% of respondents say their employer does not know how well their linemanager is managing them. Workers aged over 45 are more than twice aslikely as their younger colleagues to look for a new job in the nextyear if they have a really poor manager.
