Video: Ashridge's Sharon Olivier on trends in HR

Speaking at this year’s HR Most Influential rankings event, Olivier spoke on the evolution of HR and leadership

Human capital is increasing in value to leaders, according to Sharon Olivier, director of open programmes for HR Most Influential research partner Ashridge Executive Education.

Speaking at this year’s HR Most Influential event, she said: “At Ashridge we’ve noticed that there are specific trends in the way that leaders are moving. There is a definite shift towards the value of human capital, and a lot of people feel offended by the use of the words ‘human resources’."

Olivier also talked on the need for HR to ensure it's involved in some key upcoming trends. “The first one is to help organisations become more purpose-driven,” she says. “Profit follows purpose.”
