Ulrich: CEOs need what we in HR bring

HR can provide the answers to many of the CEO's problems, according to Dave Ulrich

HR can provide the answers to many of the CEO's problems, according to Dave Ulrich, speaking in the final part of our exclusive video series Ulrich Insights.

"CEOs need what we in HR bring. Success is not nearly finance, marketing, strategy; it is managing the people side, allowing their ideas to get implemented and sustained," he said. "Good CEOs tend to recognise the skillsets of their HR professionals."

In our exclusive series of videos Ulrich, who is considered the father of the business partner model and has consistently been voted one of the most influential thinkers in HR, looks at what drives business performance and how HR can help organisations succeed.

"Every three or four years someone writes an article about why they hate HR, or asking if we should blow up HR. They frustrate me. Are there bad HR people? Duh. Look around, we can find them. Are there good HR people? Of course.

"Let's quit talking about blowing up HR, getting rid of HR or hating HR. Let's focus on what is right, and not what is wrong, and build the future of HR around a positive agenda,” he added
