TUI travel outsources management of its healthcare employee benefits

TUI Travel has outsourced the management of all its healthcare benefits to simplify the system for employees and reduce spend.

TUI Travel, the world's leading leisure travel company, has appointed health risk management consultancy, Healthcare RM, to integrate all existing healthcare management services and to plug any gaps in provision for the Group in the UK. This joined-up approach to employee health and wellbeing services enables TUI Travel to incorporate all employee healthcare benefits, initiatives and legal obligations under the management of one supplier.

Initially seeking ways to improve the management of sickness absence, TUI Travel has launched a new approach that now provides managers and its 16,000 UK employees with a single contact point for all health related matters. Healthcare RM will oversee and co-ordinate all the different suppliers of health and wellbeing services (such as healthcare, insurance, occupational health, employer's liability and health screening providers) and will also take an active and direct role in improving the provision of musculoskeletal and mental health services for the organisation.

Healthcare RM takes a proactive approach to the clinical management of all physical and psychological ill health and injury. This combines active Case Management with clear guidance on how to resolve the range of other issues that impact on illness, injury and absence and the implications these may have for an employee, the family and the business in the short and longer term.

Commenting on the appointment, David House, Group Reward Director for TUI Travel, which operates in over 180 countries and employs approximately 49,000 worldwide said; "By outsourcing employee healthcare management in this way, we will provide our employees with a vastly simplified and improved service. At the same time we will cut unnecessary expenditure, reduce costs through improved efficiencies and minimise exposure to employee health risks. We welcome Healthcare RM into this role and look forward to positive results."

Pamela Gellatly, CEO for Healthcare RM responded, "We are delighted to serve TUI Travel in this ground-breaking service integrator role. Healthcare risk is an increasing concern for all organisations and in this new role we hope to reduce that risk for the client, while providing a better service to employees and managers."
