Steven D’Souza, associate professor, IE Business School and head of programmes, Financial Times IE Business School Corporate Learning Alliance

Steven D'Souza is an international executive educator executive coach, adviser, speaker and bestselling author who has worked at the interface of the world’s leading business schools and corporations to design transformational learning interventions for senior executives globally.

D'Souza has had a diverse career, becoming a vice president in an Investment bank before he was thirty. He has global experience across industries and has worked in the fields of HR, leadership and talent management, diversity, organisational development, recruitment and internal communications to have an integrated view of learning solutions.

Keeping his links with industry, D'Souza brought his corporate experience into education, becoming an executive fellow for IE Business School (ranked #1 in Europe by the Financial Times 2013) in 2008 consulting to it on the design, content and experience of their international customised programmes. D'Souza has orchestrated its global executive MBA as well as the global senior management programme, with Chicago Booth GSB. He has worked independently, from graduate to Board level including CEO, with a range of firms such as Amex, Barclays, BT, Credit Suisse, Eurostar, Financial Times, Goldman Sachs and PwC. He has also delivered workshops or talks for the United Nations ILO, On purpose, the Hub Connections, TEDx and the Windsor Fellowship among several other social enterprises and government organisations. He has spoken in places as diverse as Tbilisi, Bucharest, Shanghai and Sofia. He has worked extensively in the Middle East.

D'Souza has served on the guest faculty team of the adaptive leadership programme at the Harvard Kennedy School and is part of the Duke CE Global Educator Network (ranked #1 globally for custom exec education by the Financial Times for the last 13 years). He is head of programmes for the Financial Times IE Business School Corporate Learning Alliance. He has been a visiting lecturer on several programmes including at London Business School’s EMBA, the Masters in organisations and governance at the London School of Economics, and the IE Brown Executive MBA.

D'Souza has a BA (Hons) in Theology, Philosophy, Religious Studies with History and an MSc in organisational consulting from Ashridge Business School. He has also has studied adaptive leadership at the Harvard Kennedy School, appreciative inquiry with its founder David Cooperider at Case Western Reserve University and theory U with Otto Scharmer from MIT.

D'Souza is also the author of three international bestselling books, published by Pearson and LID. ‘Made in Britain’ with Patrick Clarke, about positive role models from diverse communities, sponsored free for schools in the UK. ‘Brilliant Networking’ which has been translated into several languages and featured in the Independent’s ‘Success at Work’ series. ‘Not Knowing’, co-authored with Diana Renner, is his third book, which examines leading in uncertainty and complexity and was launched at Harvard. It won the Chartered Management Institute for the ‘Management and Leadership Book of the Year’ in 2015.

He has also been shortlisted for the Thinkers 50 RADAR Award, www.thinkers50.com which in the global premier ranking of world class management thinkers most likely to change the future of business and management practice.

D'Souza's expertise crosses the fields of psychology, organisational development, diversity, group dynamics, contemplation and social capital and he is an experienced process consultant and executive coach.

His work has also been featured in national and international media. He served as the Ambassador for the Australian Institute of Management and in the past has been a co-chair of MERLIN (Business in the Community) and a governor of the City of Westminster College. He has also directed programmes for the Windsor Fellowship educational charity.

D'Souza lives in London. He enjoys table tennis, being in nature, coffee and generative conversation, and exploring the relationships between psychology, philosophy, leadership and management.
