Serco HRD Geoff Lloyd joins Fairsail board as non-executive director

HR cloud software company Fairsail has announced the appointment of Geoff Lloyd to sit on the board as a non-executive director.

Lloyd has been group HR director at Serco for six years and has been named as one of the HR Most Influential practitioners of the year for the past four. This year he was ranked within the top 10.

Prior to joining staffing solutions provider Serco Lloyd held senior HR leadership roles at Airbus and Nortel Networks. His first HR leadership role was at technology company Inmac between 1990 and 1992.

As well as a strong technology focus throughout his career, Lloyd's CV has an international feel. He has lived and worked in locations as diverse as Boston and France but is currently based in the UK.

He told HR magazine he sees himself as "hardcore HR" – having worked in the profession since completing a Masters in human resources at Aston University in the 1980s.

He first met Fairsail chairman Steve Garnett around 10 years ago when working at Nortel and claims this was when his interest in cloud technology began. He remained in touch with Garnett and has also met Fairsail CEO Adam Hale. He cites the strong personal affinity he feels with both as a key reason for wanting to be involved with the company.

Lloyd says he hopes to add "strong domain knowledge" to Fairsail in his new role.

"I already serve a world-class board in my role as HR director so I have experience of dealing with board-level issues from both sides," he added. "I hope to add to my knowledge on HR issues as well as acting as a sounding board for Fairsail when they need it."

Garnett welcomed the additional "HR operational excellence" Lloyd will bring to the company in his new role. “He also has experience of international team leadership, which is essential as Fairsail rapidly grows its multinational customer base," he added.
