Online recruitment makes life easy

HR has been told to be bold, be brave and embrace online recruitment.

Speaking at the Softworld HR and Payroll Conference in London, Jan Paxton, HR projects manager at Marshall Motors, told delegates that online recruitment can create transparency between HR and managers when resourcing the best talent.

She said: "You don't have to start with a blank page. Have a look on other company websites and take recruitment ideas from them."

The firm implemented online recruitment in 2007, advertising its recruitment site on local radio and allowing applicants to submit CVs online and use the site to find out more information about working for the company.

Marshall Motors has reduced costs and paper from recruiting staff using its website and in the future plans to remove the need for paper application forms in the company altogether. It also intends to add a functionality for managers to schedule job interviews online.

Paxton added: "Online recruitment has been great, easy and successful."

This comes as the Monster Employment Index shows online recruitment dropping below year-earlier levels for the first time since inception.
