- What does your new job involve?
My new role is all about attracting and retaining world-class talent, building global leadership capability and ensuring Iris people have fulfilling careers. These are the people management areas that will support the company's growth and ongoing success.
- What attracted you to the role?
The scale of Iris's ambition was a big pull but, more than that, the philosophy and culture is very appealing. The leaders understand the importance and value of their people and have a genuine interest in ensuring business success comes with individual success and, importantly, that there is fun to be had along the way.
- What experience do you bring?
I have 15 years' experience in operational, strategic, marketing, consulting and HR roles, so I have a breadth that I think will be useful. More recently, I have been immersed in building leadership capability and doing that on a global scale - I think that will be valuable too.
- What is the greatest challenge over the next year?
My biggest challenge will be understanding the DNA of Iris and its people - you can't carry out this role without intimate knowledge of what makes your people tick. I will spend a lot of time out and about talking to employees about what really matters to them.
- What do you do to unwind?
I'm a gym junkie: body pump, body attack and spinning are good ways to let off steam. Alternatively, I find a good day's shopping followed by a glass of wine works wonders.
