Harvey Francis, group HR director/executive vice president, Skanska UK
HR magazine, September 10, 2015
Skanska UK’s group HR director/executive vice president Harvey Francis oversees 5,500 employees, with additional responsibility for communications and IT, as well as being chair of the pension trustee board and a member of Skanska’s ethics committee. He joined the construction company in October 2007 and was appointed to his current post in September 2008.
Before gaining experience across all aspects of HR in the sectors of healthcare, telecoms and construction, the early part of Harvey Francis’s career was spent in retail management with House of Fraser, Virgin Group and BT.
Francis played a pivotal role in implementing a consistent and ethical culture across Skanska’s UK business following an investigation by the Information Commissioner’s Office in 2009 into blacklisting. The ICO did not take enforcement action against Skanksa. Francis works hard to ensure the company’s commitment to transparency and an ethical approach is embedded deeply in the business.
Francis is married with one daughter and two stepsons and likes playing the guitar and watching live music.
