Cadbury brings Olympic gold medallist for staff engagement and stress awareness

Cadbury has enlisted an Olympic gold medalist, to encourage staff to take part in Olympic volunteering opportunities.

The company announced sprint kayak Olympic gold medallist Tim Brabants (pictured with Cadbury staff) will become an Athlete Ambassador for its London 2012 programme.

Brabants, one of Britain's brightest prospects for London 2012, will join Rebecca Adlington and Shanaze Reade as part of a team of Cadbury Athlete Ambassadors, demonstrating Cadbury's ongoing support for British athletes on their journey to London 2012.

Brabants is established in the dynamic Olympic sport of sprint kayak, having won gold for the 1000 metres in 2008 in Beijing, as well as bronze medals in both Beijing and Sydney. He will be supported by Cadbury as he prepares to compete for gold once again at the London 2012 Olympic Games. As part of his role as an Athlete Ambassador for Cadbury's London 2012 programme, Brabants will be encouraging and inspiring employees taking part in a wide range of volunteering opportunities as part of Cadbury's London 2012 programme.

As an accident and emergency department doctor, Brabants will also be sharing his insight and expertise of juggling a stressful job and a demanding training schedule with employees, supporting staff to improve their own health and wellness. He made his first appearance at a training event for the Cadbury Spots v Stripes team of employees taking part in Deloitte's Ride Across Britain, a mass participation cycling event taking participants on a journey from John O'Groats to Land's End over nine days which will start on Saturday 11th June 2011. The Cadbury Spots v Stripes team will be raising money for ParalympicsGB, the event's benefitting charity.

Tim Brabants, said: "I'm excited at the prospect of a home Olympic Games and hope the rest of the nation is equally enthused about London 2012. I look forward to relaying my experiences with the Cadbury staff and hopefully inspiring them all to make the most of the experience, through volunteering with Cadbury or watching the action."

Norman Brodie, general manager of Cadbury's London 2012 campaign, added: "We are delighted that Tim Brabants is joining our growing team of Athlete Ambassadors and is kicking off his role by supporting our team participating in Deloitte Ride Across Britain.

"Tim is a truly inspirational figure, managing to combine the demands of a stressful job with his Olympic training programme and we're thrilled to have him on board. We look forward to announcing more Athlete Ambassadors in the very near future."
